Residential Solar Panels for Your Home

Rising power bills do not have to be the norm. A well sized residential solar system lets your home run on its own daytime energy, sends less money to the grid, and pays you back year after year. Greenlight Solar designs, supplies and installs home solar systems built around how your household actually uses power, with Tier 1 panels, quality inverters and battery storage options to match.

We are a Clean Energy Council member, a NETCC approved seller and a Tesla Powerwall certified installer, so every system is installed to standard and eligible for the government incentives you qualify for.

Why home solar makes sense in 2026

Electricity prices keep climbing, and a solar system is one of the few upgrades that lowers a fixed cost for the next two decades. The panels generate power while the sun is up, your home uses that first, and anything left over either charges a battery or exports to the grid.

For most households the maths is simple. Every kilowatt hour you make and use yourself is a kilowatt hour you are not buying at 30 to 40 cents from your retailer. Add a battery and you can store the cheap daytime energy for the evening peak instead of paying top rates after dark.

The federal Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme still discounts the upfront cost of an eligible solar system, and the Cheaper Home Batteries Program adds a separate discount when you install storage. More on batteries below.

Add a battery and use your solar after dark

Solar panels only generate while the sun is up. A home battery stores your surplus daytime energy so your house runs on it through the evening peak, which is when grid power costs the most.

The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program takes around 30 percent off the upfront cost of an eligible battery between 5kWh and 100kWh. From 1 May 2026 the discount is tiered by size, with the first 14kWh receiving the full rate and larger capacity receiving less. The rate also steps down every six months through to the end of 2030, so the incentive is at its highest now and falls from here.

To qualify, the battery must be on the Clean Energy Council approved list, be VPP ready, and be installed by a Solar Accreditation Australia accredited installer. Greenlight handles the paperwork and applies the discount to your quote, so you pay the reduced price. Read the full detail on our solar battery rebate page.

We install and service leading batteries including Tesla Powerwall, Sungrow, Sigenergy, BYD, AlphaESS, GoodWe and more.

That comes down to your electricity usage and roof space. As a rough guide, a 6.6kW system suits smaller households, 10kW suits an average family home, and 13kW or more suits larger homes with ducted cooling, a pool or an EV. We size your system from your recent bills rather than a generic estimate.

For most Australian homes, yes. Every unit of solar power you use yourself replaces power you would otherwise buy from the grid at retail rates. With bills continuing to rise, a correctly sized system typically pays for itself within a few years and keeps saving across its 25 year panel life.

A battery makes sense if a lot of your usage happens after the sun goes down, or if you want backup during outages. With the federal battery discount at around 30 percent right now and stepping down every six months, 2026 is a strong time to add storage. We can model the payback for your household before you commit.

Yes. We offer $0 upfront and low interest finance plans so you can start saving on your bills without a large initial outlay. Ask us which option suits your situation.

Most residential installations are completed in a single day once your system is designed and approved. We handle the grid application, rebate paperwork and connection for you.
